This was a truly wonderful night for swimmers and parents at the Norwood Town Hall. Thanks to the Organising Committee headed by Rachael White, David Skene and Michael Bradley, for organising the evening.  It was wonderful to have Peter Graham yet again host the night  so brilliantly, thank you!  We were privileged to have Councillor Whitington and swimming superstar, club life member and MP, Matt Cowdrey as our special guests and trophy presenters.  Narumi Ireland yet again captured the night to perfection with her wonderful photos (please head to our Facebook page to view them all!)

It was an incredible week for Team Norwood at the Australian Age Championships in Sydney, April 21-28.  We ended up with 14 medals, 10 State Records and 30 finalists - a huge week by any standards. Unfortunately, Swimming Australia no longer does a points score for this meet, as we would have been right up there!

Huge thanks to our amazing coaching team - Shaun, Cedric and Alana in Sydney, and Luke and Paul back home - for preparing our team so wonderfully for this week. We have had out best results for many years, testament to the hard work and dedication of our swimmers, coaches and parents.

Age Championships come to Adelaide next year, so we're sure, swimming on our home turf, that our results will be even better. Can't wait! GO NORWOOD! here to edit.

When the 2018 State Championships came to a close after 5 huge days of racing,  Norwood finished ON TOP of the point score! This is our first win at Long Course States for five years, and a huge improvement on last year in terms of the points score. Norwood finished on 3948 points, 438 points ahead of 2nd place Marion. Kent Town rounded off the top three in third place on 986 points.
The win is testament to all the hard work of our coaches, swimmers and supporters. We are so proud of each and every one of you.
 
We had several club and state records broken during the meet, including:
 
Fergus McLachlan: 200 Backstroke, club record
Emily White: 100 Butterfly, state and club record
Hugh Caton: 50 Freestyle, club record
Shanelle Hancl: 50 Backstroke, state and club record
Darcy Bekric: 50 Backstroke MC, state record
Sophie Pontifex: 50 Freestyle MC, state record
Liam Bekric: 50 Freestyle MC, state record.
 
Many National Age and Open times were also achieved during the meet.
 
 
A huge thanks to our wonderful coaches - Shaun, Cedric, Luke, Paul, Ebony and Alana - for leading our team all week, all our technical officials and team managers and our parents and other supporters. Huge thanks also to Lorna Leung, who, despite no longer having children swimming for Norwood, came back to manage the team on relay day and ensured everything went off without a hitch! 

Congratulations to our Norwood swimmers who have been selected as part of the SA team to compete at the State Teams Championships at the AIS in Canberra this September...
